MAHATMA KHUSHHALCHAND KHURSAND- Arya Samaj Kerala Karalmanna-Learn Veda

Khushhalchand Khursand (later known as Mahatma Anand Swami Saraswati) was born on 15 October 1882 in Jalalpur Jatta village of Punjab (now in Pakistan). Influenced by the Aryasamaj ideology, he resolved to dedicate his life to the spread of Vedic religion at his early age. In the vicinity of Mahatma Hansraj ji, the founder of DAV College in Lahore, he entered the editorial department of ‘Arya Gazette’ weekly and made his debut in the journalism. With the aim of promoting national awareness and Vedic religion, he started an Urdu daily named ‘Milap’ on 13th April, 1923 during the auspicious Vaishakhi festival. He was the father of unbroken Punjab’s journalism and a struggling monk.

In 1921 when Mopola Muslims in Malabar unleashed inhuman torture on Hindus, Mahatma Hansaraj, then President of Arya Pradeshik Prathinidhi Sabha Sindh, Baluchistan and Lahore send him to Malabar along with Pandit Rishiram, Mastan Chand etc. He vigorously traveled through out Malabar region and rescued thousands of Hindus and conducted shelter homes for them. With the hard work of his Arya team thousands of converted Hindus could come back to Vedic Dharma. With the instruction of Mahatma Hans Raj, he send a report on the situation in Malabar during the worst situation of 1921 Muslim revolts. This report was later published as a Hindi book named ‘Malabar or Arya Samaj’ in 1923. Arya Samajam Vellinezhi has translated this Hindi book it into Malayalam and planning to publish it very shortly. Mahatma Anand Swami has done a leading role in establishing the Arya Samaj in Kerala.

In the year 1939, when Nizam of Hyderabad unleashed the atrocities against the Hindus, he reached Hyderabad with a Satyagrahi batch and fought for seven months in the Nizam’s jail. When Sathyarth Prakash the master piece of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswathi was banned in Sindh, he was in the forefront of the mass public agitation against it. In 1949, he became ‘Mahatma Anand Swami Saraswati’ by initiating into Sanyas. He traveled widely and preached Vedic dharma in foreign countries like Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania etc. 

He authored many Vedic literature and moral stories. He achieved success in introducing the unique power of Gayatri Mantra to the entire world. He passed away on 24 October 1977.
